Un poco de mitología... A bit of mythology

Cuenta la mitología griega, que Aracne era una tejedora excepcional. Tan excepcional era y tan bonitos eran los tapices y alfombras que tejía, que pronto llegó a oídos de los dioses las virtudes de esta mortal. La diosa Atenea, celosa del arte de una simple mujer, la retó a ver quién de las dos tejía el tapiz más hermoso. Aracne, orgullosa, aceptó y ambas se dispusieron a crear la más maravillosa obra que nadie hubiese visto, mezclando todo tipo de colores, hilos, diseños... Una vez las dos hubieron terminado, expusieron a la vista de todos sus trabajos. Todo el mundo asistente calló al momento, pues se dio cuenta de que sin duda la obra de Aracne era más hermosa que la de la mismíma Atenea. Ésta última también se dio cuenta y llena de rabia rompió el tapiz de Aracne y la transformó en una araña: un animal que todos despreciarían y que tendría que tejer una y otra vez sus telas en secreto porque en cuanto alguien las viera las destruiría.

Este blog pretende ser como un tapiz. Pero no como un tapiz aburrido sin colores, sin variedad de diseños... sino un sitio en el que quepan todo tipo de temas. Estáis tod@s invitad@s a leer y comentar. Gracias.


In Greek mythology Aracne was supposed to be an exceptional weaver. Her skills as a weaver were beyond any other human, even the gods knew how wonderful she was. Athena herself heard about that and went to challenge Aracne to weave better than her. Aracne accepted and they both started weaving using the most beautiful colours and materials. When they finished everybody there could see that Aracne's weaving was the best, and Athena got extremely angry and tore Aracne's work into pieces. Then she transformed the poor girl into a spider that would weave for her whole life and her work wouldn't be recognised.
